Beware of cheap roof painters

Date: 2 September 2009

The Office of Consumer and Business Affairs (OCBA) has warned of itinerant traders posing as roof restorers, offering to paint roofs for "bragain" prices. They report of an elderly resident who paid $5,000 for roof painting, which took half an hour.

Consumers are entitled to a 10 day cooling-off period if approached by a door-to-door trader. Traders who cannot produce a builders licence should be reported to OCBA.
